Meet our Team

Our church & leadership is defined by our obedience to Christ. We have a strong desire to see people come to Christ, to be individuals who make disciples, and to see churches planted and revitalized around the world.

  • Brian Grout

    Lead Pastor

Brian came to The Church at Three Trails in March of 2013, after spending 11 years in youth ministry in Texas and Missouri. He desires to see Three Trails be a strong influence in the city of Independence, to see the church live out the gospel on a daily basis and be all that God intended it to be, as seen in Ephesians 3:10-11. Brian and his wife, Sarah, have been married for 18 years and have three kids Ethan, Brooklyn and Payton. Friend him on Facebook or follow him on Twitter @BGrouty

  • Maria Beach

    Director of Youth Ministry

Maria became a member of the Church at Three Trails in 2018. She grew up in Iowa and went to Simpson College, majoring in Studio Art. While at Simpson, Maria interned with New Heights Church for the high school and college ministry over the course of 4 years. During that time, she felt God's call to ministry and upon graduation, pursued a Master's in Theology from Midwestern. After meeting her now-husband, Joe, she moved to Missouri and together they found Three Trails. Maria's goal for Ignite Youth Ministries is to prepare the middle school and high school students to go into the world rooted in Christ Jesus and spreading the Gospel wherever God takes them after high school. Maria and Joe just married in Nov. of 2018 and enjoy watching Smallville or chilling with their two dogs in their spare time. Maria also loves running. You can friend her on Facebook or follow her on Instagram @missusbeach

  • Darrin Brown

    Director of Life Groups

Darrin spent 28 years dealing with drug and alcohol addictions only to overcome them by the pure grace of God. He hopes that his life may serve as an example as to how God's consequences affect life's outcomes. He was called into ministry at 15 years old, but ignored the call, pursuing other things. His schooling includes courses at Longview Community College, UMKC, The Kansas City Art Institute, and Midwestern, and he has a degree from Liberty in Religion. Darrin's passions are teaching and discipleship. He loves mentoring those with addictions, and he absolutely loves Jesus.

  • Kim Cook

    Director of pre-k trails kids

Kim, affectionately known to the little ones as "Miss Kim," has served as the birth through pre-k director at Three Trails for over 20 years. She loves helping the children learn to love and follow Jesus.

  • Mallory copeland

    Director Trails Kids K-5th

Mallory grew up at Beverly Hills Baptist Church (now The Church at Three Trails) as a young kid. Life took her elsewhere for a while, but in 2013 Mallory returned to Three Trails and began helping with the children's ministry. Mallory was a preschool teacher for 5 years, but after having her first child in 2016, she became a stay-at-home mom. She and her husband, Jason, married at Three Trails in 2015. Mallory loves her church family here at Three Trails and is excited to see the children's ministry grow.

  • Sarah Grout

    Worship Leader

Sarah was born and raised in Indiana. She attended Indiana State University, where she served as the worship leader at the Baptist Collegiate Ministry for 2 years. After meeting Brian in 1999, and marrying in 2000, she moved to Missouri, where she served as the worship leader for 2 years with the Springhill Youth ministry in Springfield. She graduated from Southwest Baptist University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, and from Southwestern Seminary with a Master of Arts in Christian Education. In 2016, Sarah took over the music ministry at Three Trails, where she enjoys serving with amazing musicians. In her spare time (hahaha), Sarah enjoys spending time with her husband and kids, and she enjoys running.

  • Mike Matuszeski

    Director of First Impressions

Mike was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He moved to Missouri in 1986 and graduated High School in 1990. Upon graduation, Mike attended the school of hard knocks where he now teaches today (lol).

Mike has been attending the Church at Three Trails for five years now. He is married to Stacie Matuszeski and they have two children: Lily, 18 years old, and Joshua, 8 years old.

Mike was saved and baptized on January 22, 2003. He has had the blessing of baptizing both of his children here at the Church at Three Trails. Mike also teaches a self-defense class with a Christian foundation on Wednesday nights here at Three Trails. Mike enjoys meeting new people and fellowship with his Church family.

For you were called for freedom, brothers, only do not use the freedom for an opportunity for the flesh, but be serving one another through love. - Galatians 5:13
